LEAD-FREE BRASS

Turning lead-free. For more than ten years.

GROHE Technology in Loßburg (northern Black Forest) produces precision turned parts in lead-free and low-lead brass, such as CuZn21Si3P (Ecobrass) and CuZn41Mg (eZeebrass), for components in contact with drinking water. In diameters from 6 to 65 mm, gloss turning up to 45 mm, from 500 pieces.

We are among the pioneers in machining these alloys. More than ten years ago, we invested in our own swarf-processing plant, used exclusively for lead-free materials. This keeps the swarf single-grade and the materials cleanly separated.

What makes lead-free brass different.

Lead-free brass contains less than 0.1% lead. Silicon and phosphorus compensate for this and make the alloy extremely corrosion-resistant: it is less susceptible to dezincification and stress corrosion cracking and is therefore suitable for contact with drinking water.

Why it takes experience.

In conventional brass, lead acts as a chip breaker and lubricant. Without it, machining becomes considerably more demanding. Powerful machines alone are not enough. It takes matched tools, processes and a great deal of experience. That is exactly where we come in.

Frequently asked questions about lead-free brass

A brass alloy with less than 0.1% lead. Silicon and phosphorus provide high corrosion resistance and reduce susceptibility to dezincification and stress corrosion cracking.

Lead-free CuZn21Si3P (Ecobrass/Cuphin) and CuZn41Mg (eZeebrass), low-lead CuZn40 and CuZn42. Other alloys on request.

Yes. Thanks to its high corrosion resistance, it is suitable for components in contact with drinking water.

Without lead, the natural chip breaker and lubricant is missing. That calls for matched tools, processes and a great deal of experience. GROHE Technology has been machining these alloys for more than ten years.

Turning in the range Ø 6–65 mm, gloss turning up to Ø 45 mm, series from 500 pieces. Samples by arrangement.

It is processed single-grade in our own swarf-processing plant, which is used exclusively for lead-free materials.
